This limited edition multiple was made by Chris Burden and produced by LACMA. The cars that are included in the multiple were originally made for Chris Burden’s large scale sculpture Metropolis II on view at LACMA on the first floor of BCAM. Each car has rubber bumpers on the front and rear ends, the artist’s name and title of the work molded into the sidewalls of all four wheels and the bottom of the car, and a magnet embedded in the chassis to draw the car up the conveyer belts. The stand is composed of plywood, aluminum, and Plexiglas, the same materials used in the sculpture Metropolis II. Each car stand is signed and numbered on the bottom by Chris Burden.
