Ellen Gallagher and Edgar Cleijne: Better Dimension at Bonniers Konsthall, Stockholm, Sweden.

On view April 25 through June 3, 2018.

Bonniers Konsthall is proud to present the first exhibition in Sweden with American artist Ellen Gallagher. Gallagher creates pictorial spaces that allow us to speculate about alternate histories and states of being. The exhibition, Better Dimension, pairs three immersive film installations made by Gallagher in collaboration with artist Edgar Cleijne (Dutch, born 1963 ).

The most recent film installation Highway Gothic (2017) takes an abstract look at Interstate 10, an American motorway, using it to illustrate questions of how infrastructure is used to segregate social groups from one another. Gallagher has been recognized for illuminating societal issues in her art in a sublime and poetic manner.

Ellen Gallagher, currently living in Rotterdam and New York City, is renowned for her solo exhibitions at institutions including Tate Modern in London and The New Museum in New York City. The Swedish public knows her from a presentation of her paintings in the Eklips exhibition at Moderna Museet in Stockholm. Edgar Cleijne, also living in Rotterdam and New York City, is a photographer and filmmaker.
