"NOW | Jenny Saville" at the Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art, Edinburgh, United Kingdom.

On view March 24 through September 16, 2018.

The third instalment of "NOW" will feature a major survey of works by renowned British artist Jenny Saville, spanning some 25 years of the artist’s career across five rooms.

A graduate of The Glasgow School of Art, this presentation marks the first museum exhibition of the artist’s work ever to be staged in Scotland. Featuring monumental paintings and drawings by Saville dating between 1992 and 2017, the exhibition will demonstrate the scale and ambition of the artist’s practice, and her singular and dynamic approach to composition, gesture, materials, and subject matter.

This edition of "NOW" will also feature rooms of work by five further artists to investigate themes regarding the body, performance, process and materiality. These include painted metal sculptural works by Glasgow-based artist Sara Barker; an installation of a major new work by Scottish artist Christine Borland, recently commissioned by the Institute of Transplantation, Newcastle, and acquired by National Galleries of Scotland; works by the South African artist Robin Rhode; a two-channel video by Austrian artist Markus Schinwald; and new works by Edinburgh-based artist Catherine Street, developed by Street during a residency organized in partnership with Cove Park and supported by Outset Scotland and the National Galleries of Scotland NOW fund.

Also on show, from March 24 to May 2018, will be a group display drawn from the National Galleries of Scotland collection focusing on the body and fragmentation including works by Miroslaw Balka, Alex Dordoy, Alexis Hunter and Jonathan Owen, amongst others.

The "NOW" series of exhibitions was launched in March 2017 and reflects the Gallery’s ambition to share contemporary art with a wide audience, highlighting the extraordinary quality and range of work being made by artists associated with Scotland, across the UK and internationally, and placing art created in Scotland in an international context.
